One of my biggest pet peeves while driving is when I'm waiting to turn left and the oncoming car takes his own sweet time clearing the intersection. I get very antsy, especially if I'm still waiting when the light turns yellow. Once, when I was a new driver, I got stuck in the intersection after the light turned RED. People honked, y'all. HONKED! At me. I'm pretty sure that one little incident scarred me for life.
So today, when I found myself waiting to turn left on yellow with an oncoming car c-r-a-w-l-i-n-g through the intersection, I might have gotten mad and yelled something like "Hurry the frick up!" (I had to say "frick" since my girls were in the car.) I also shook my head in exasperation and rolled my eyes, all the Rude and Very Bad Habits the characters in my books do to the people who irritate them.
But then when I got home and checked my email messages, there was this little gem from my husband:

"I went through the intersection going the opposite way, very slowly and waved, but you didn’t see me. Actually looked a little impatient. Probably because I was going so slow."
Oops.
And then this song went through my head. It's from a record called The Music Machine that I had when I was younger. I listened to it all.the.time. As you might imagine, this particular song annoyed the frick out of me.

My mom used to sing that song to me when I was in a hurry growing up. "Have patience, have patience, don't be in such a hurry." The email from your husband is funny!! I didn't see that coming. LOL!
ReplyDeleteI just remembered the song use to annoy me so much I'd increase the speed on my Fisher-Price record player just to get through it faster. LOL!
DeleteMy wife and I had a good laugh with this...it sooo could have been us at that intersection!
ReplyDeleteI think I need to use that song as boot up music on some computers at work.
We're still laughing about it today!
DeleteSo... did you make the light or not? :)
ReplyDeleteI did make the light!! (though barely)
DeleteOK, I could only make it through 35 seconds of that song. Lucky for you, I'm speedy through the intersections :-D What I hate is when there are two lanes and I need to turn but the guy in front of me doesn't have to. Why didn't he get in the go straight lane? Drives. Me. Nuts.
ReplyDeleteThat is adorable about the Hubby though!!
